Issue

  • In ONTAP SAN environments using NVMe-oF protocol, I/O operations are not blocked on volumes that have entered the NVFAIL state
  • As a result, hosts may continue reading from or writing to affected namespaces without receiving any errors, potentially leading to data corruption
  • Applications continue to function normally, but data written during this period may be lost or corrupted once the volume is recovered or brought back online
  • This issue has been present since the initial introduction of NVMe-oF protocol support in ONTAP
