Applies to

  • ONTAP9
  • Access-Based Enumeration (ABE)

Answer

  • No, folders created from mounted volumes (e.g., Volume 2 ) under a shared volume (e.g., Volume 1) cannot be hidden by ABE.
  • This is because ABE does not apply to folders that originate from junction-mounted volumes.
  • Even if access permissions are configured via ABE on the parent shared volume, the folders from the mounted volumes will remain visible.

Example:

The junction path of Vol1 is /vol1 and the junction path of Vol2 is /vol1/vol2, in this sinario, the vol2 can't be hidden when the ABE of /vol1 being enabled.
