ONTAP hNoStandbyLifCifsNdo_Alert no standby CIFS LIF due to LACP misconfiguration

Issue

  • On a two-node ONTAP cluster connected to a Multi-Chassis LAG switch pair, the Interface Group a0a (multimode_lacp) on one node shows as fully down with Port Participation: none, triggering a hNoStandbyLifCifsNdo_Alert.
  • hNoStandbyLifCifsNdo_Alert raised in ONTAP System Manager due to a Vserver actively serving data over CIFS through one node without a corresponding data LIF on its partner node.
  • ifgroup show output confirms all the ports are down

  • The IFGRP shows `status: no carrier` with `active ports: 0`. Critically, ports `e0f` and `e0g` are in DEFAULTED state with zero input LACPDUs (ONTAP is transmitting but receiving nothing from the switch), while `e0e` and `e0h` show SYNC state but with two different partner system MACs:
