Answer

  • SECD is responsible for authenticating users prior to granting users access to storage; ONTAP will not be able to authenticate new reqests during restart.
  • Restarting SECD does not impact already established CIFS or NFS sessions.  
  • Restarting SECD will attempt to generate a ucore on the secd memory state if support has requested for additional analysis
  • Restarting SECD requires diagnostic privilege
