What is an NFS -v4-domain-id?
Applies to
- ONTAP 9
- NFSv4
Answer
A v4-id-domain is a string that NFSv4 clients and NFSv4 servers share as a “common client identity mapping schema” in domain form.
- ONTAP default: defaultv4iddomain.com
- The only requirement is that it matched between clients and the server.
- A client or server (i.e. SVM in ONTAP) can only have a single id-domain.
Note: The name of an id-domain is arbitrary. An id-domain “elephant” could be used, even though it doesn’t relate to anything in the environment's DNS, LDAP, AD, etc.
