Answer

  • ONTAP supports third party antivirus software via a built-in ONTAP feature called vScan
  • There are several vendors\antivirus software supported such as:
    • McAfee Endpoint Security Storage Protection 
    • Trend Micro Server Protect for NetApp Filers (also known as Server Protect for Storage)
    • Symantec Protection Engine for Network Attached Storage
    • SentinelOne Threat Detection for NetApp
    • Deep Instinct
    • OPSWAT MetaDefender Storage Security
  • In order to find which specific vendor or specific software version is supported with your ONTAP and which AV-connector version you should use,
    please consult NetApp Interoperability Matrix Tool (IMT) and Vscan partner solutions
  • NOTE: Our IMT may lag in updates vs the Vscan Partner Support Matrix
  • For SentinelOne however, it will NOT be in our IMT, please contact the vendor directory for supported interoperabilty versions.
    • IMT\vScan filter example: "ONTAP <version>" & "Off-box AntiVirus"
