VSCAN intermittently disconnects not scanning files and seeing "vscanConnBackPressure" errors

Issue

  • Clients experience intermittent data access issues
  • VSCAN intermittently disconnecting from SVM and not scanning files
  • EMS log show the following error message

 [?]  Fri Dec 08 04:13:44  0000 [Node1: kernel: ems.engine.suppressed:debug]: Event 'Nblade.vscanConnBackPressure' suppressed 439 times in last 84151 seconds.
 [?]  Fri Dec 08 04:13:44  0000 [Node1: kernel: Nblade.vscanConnBackPressure:error]: For Vserver "svm", AV server "10.48.xx.xx" is too busy to accept new scan requests.
 [?]  Fri Dec 08 04:16:18  0000 [Node1: kernel: Nblade.vscanConnInactive:notice]: For Vserver "svm", ONTAP(R) forcibly closed the vscan connection originated from the nonresponsive AV server "10.48.xx.xx".
 [?]  Fri Dec 08 04:16:18  0000 [Node1: OffboxVScanTableUpd: Nblade.scannerDisconnected:notice]: Vserver "svm" disconnected from Vscan server (IP: 10.48.xx.xx).

  • Increasing the Threshold number of queued requests to  24 from 1 on the VSCAN server , however the issue still persists
