Unable to use CIFS share as file share witness on windows server cluster quorum wizard

Issue

  • User is unable to access CIFS share as file share witness on windows server cluster quorum wizard, below error is seen.

Error:  you do not have sufficient privilege to get the information for the file share

  • Tried adding user to BUILTIN\Administrators or BUILTIN\Power Users group on the SVM, but still same error is seen
  • After adding the user to BULTIN group re-established the session on windows end for updated rights from that group membership to apply but still error is seen.
  • Traces are collected and we can see all calls are successful, no denied errors are seen in traces.
  • Same share is accessible on windows server cluster 2016, however it is not working on 2022.
  • Windows host 2022 is treating CIFS share as DFS share.
