Unable to open .xlsx files in Microsoft Excel

Issue

  • Some .xlsx files fail to open
  • Multiple errors are encountered when attempting to open one of these files, such as:
    • Sorry, we couldn't find <filename> 
    • Microsoft Excel cannot access the file <filename> there are several possible reasons
  • The file name or path does not exist.
  • The file is being used by another program.
  • The workbook you are trying to save has the same name as a currently open workbook.microsoft-excel-cannot-access-the-file-1.png
  • Some of these errors may be reported on components of the space-delineated filename. For example, a file named "February 2024.xlsx" may experience the following errors:

  • An impacted file can be copied to the local desktop, and from there has no issues opening in Excel
