Applies to

  • ONTAP 9
  • ONTAP System Manager

Issue

  • ONTAP System Manager and EMS are reporting the following errors:

[Node1: vifmgr: vifmgr.reach.ok:notice]: Network port e0M on node Node1 can reach its expected broadcast domain Default:Default. No other broadcast domains appear to be reachable from this port.

[Node1: vifmgr: vifmgr.reach.multireach:error]: Network port e0M on node Node1 can reach the following broadcast domains: Default:Default,Default:DC-MGMT

  • Below steps can be performed to isolate the issue:
    • Isolate the network ports e0M from the rest of the network - a management network is preferred
    • Isolate the concerned network ports into a VLAN
    • Isolate the network traffic from the switches
    • Merge the broadcast domains if they have similar configuration (MTU, Subnet)
