Primary Disk Migration using Hyper-V VMM to a new location fails due to CIFS share permission lost

Issue

  • VM has multiple disks stored in different locations(disks are hosted on Ontap cluster) and if primary disk storage is migrated to a new location and secondary disks are migrating to different location, the migration fails. 
  • Confirmed that CIFS share Permission got deleted.
  • Migrating only the VM config or secondary disks is fine, it is the primary disk migration that seems to cause the issue(CIFS share permission lost).
  • Below error seen in VMM:
(12700)VMM cannot complete the host operation on the 'server.domain.com' server because of the error: Storage migration for virtual machine 'server.domain.com' (78C497FC-516A-4B95-8D03-28AE109AB9CE) failed with error 'General access denied error' (0x80070005).Failed to get security info for '\\CIFS-server\share\server.domain.com': 'General access denied error'('0x80070005'). Unknown error (0x8001)
