Applies to

  • ONTAP 9
  • NFS
  • NTFS security style

Issue

  • Read or Write access to a file on an NFS mount to an NTFS volume, the client reports Permission denied
  • Neither LDAP nor NIS are present in the ns-switch databases for 'passwd' and 'group'

Example:

::> vserver services name-service ns-switch show
                               Source
Vserver         Database       Order
--------------- ------------   ---------
[...]
svm1            group          files
svm1            passwd         files
svm1            netgroup       files
svm1            namemap        files

  • Local Unix users are not configured

Example:

::> vserver services name-service unix-user show
               User            User   Group  Full
Vserver        Name            ID     ID     Name
-------------- --------------- ------ ------ -----
svm1           nobody          65535  65535
svm1           pcuser          65534  65534
svm1           root            0      1

  • The Unix user accounts are populated in LDAP, but an LDAP client configuration is not present on the SVM

Example:

::>  vserver services name-service ldap check -vserver svm1
