  • ONTAP 9
  • NFSv4

Issue

  • When running the NFSv4.x client command ls -l (or ll), the user and group show up erroneously as 'nobody' as shown below:

[root@NFS_SVM> mount_point]# ls -l test1
-rw-r--r--. 1 nobodyuser1 0 Oct 18 12:34 test1

  • Mounting with NFSv3 instead shows the correct user
  • Confirmed the client's domain in the "/etc/idmapd.conf" file matches the 'v4-id-domain' on the SVM:
    • Confirmed the v4-id-domain is configured from ONTAP(Advanced level command):

      Cluster::*> vserver nfs show -fields v4-id-domain
      vserver v4-id-domain
      ------- --------------
      VS1     DOMAIN.LOCAL
      1 entries were displayed

    • Confirmed the domain from the client by reviewing /etc/idmapd.conf for the value of Domain=<domain name>:

[user@localhost ~]# cat /etc/idmapd.conf
..
Domain=DOMAIN.LOCAL
