Oracle unable to write archive files to the CIFS share due to sector size

Issue

  • Using the CIFS share for the archive logs, Oracle database is unable to write the files to the CIFS share
  • Oracle log shows the error message:
ORA-19504: failed to create file "\\cifs-share\a\a\log.0001"
ORA-27040: file create error, unable to create file
OSD-04001: invalid logical block size (OS 512)
