Applies to

  • ONTAP 9
  • LACP ifgrp
  • Multiple switches supporting ifgrp member ports

Issue

  • Lack of multi-chassis lagg config on the switch causes only a subset of ifgrp member ports to participate in the ifgrp
  • All participating ports in the ifgrp are attached to one switch
  • All ports attached to a different switch do not participate
  • Compare SystemID of "lag id" (ifgrp global) and "laggport" (member port specific) sections of ifconfig
    • Member ports with different SystemIDs than that in the "lag id" section are connected to switch ports which are not part of the same port channel configuration on the switch
      • Example ifconfig -vvv output (Green: correct SystemID; Red: Incorrect SystemID):
      • lag id: [(8000,D2-39-EA-53-E0-03,082F,0000,0000),
        				(8000,94-8E-D3-7F-DB-DD,0066,0000,0000)]
        		laggport: e8b flags=1c<ACTIVE,COLLECTING,DISTRIBUTING> state=3d<ACTIVITY,AGGREGATION,SYNC,COLLECTING,DISTRIBUTING>
        				[(8000,D2-39-EA-53-E0-03,082F,8000,0007),
        				(8000,94-8E-D3-7F-DB-DD,0066,8000,0009)]
        				input/output LACPDUs: 50321 / 50293
        		laggport: e4b flags=18<COLLECTING,DISTRIBUTING> state=3d<ACTIVITY,AGGREGATION,SYNC,COLLECTING,DISTRIBUTING>
        				[(8000,D2-39-EA-53-E0-03,082F,8000,000B),
        				(8000,94-8E-D3-05-B1-29,0066,8000,0009)]
        				input/output LACPDUs: 50323 / 50293
