Applies to

  • ONTAP 9
  • Native Fpolicy

Issue

  • A native FPolicy was configured on an SVM to block the creation, renaming, or modification of files with specific extensions (for example: .aspx, .py, .config, etc.) over SMB/CIFS access.
  • Despite the policy being enabled and correctly configured, users were still able to create files with the restricted extensions. The FPolicy did not block the operations as expected.
  • The same FPolicy configuration was reported to work correctly on another SVM within the same cluster.
