NFS mount fails with "mount.nfs: portmap query failed: RPC: Timed out"

Issue

  • When attempting to mount a volume, it fails with timed out error:
    • mount.nfs: portmap query failed: RPC: Timed out
    • portmap query failed: RPC: Remote system error - Connection timed out
    • mount.nfs: access denied by server while mounting
  • Similarly, the showmount command may fail with the following error:
    • rpc mount export: RPC: Timed out
