NFS mount Network Error 53 due to export policy of root volume

Issue

  • Network Error - 53 when mounting a NFSv3 share on Windows client 

Example:

C:\User\test> mount -o mtype=hard 192.168.0.1:/test X:
Network Error - 53
Type NET HELPMSG 53 for more information.
  • The client OS command showmount -e  returns a correct result
  • Exported volume is a FlexVol

Note: only FlexVols are supported for Windows NFS clients

  • The SVM is correctly configured ::> vserver nfs show
  • NFS Mount Root Only disabled
  • Showmount Enabled enabled
  • NFSv3 MS-DOS Client Support enabled
  • The export-policy of the SVM root volume does not allow read-access to the client in ::> vserver export-policy rule show
