MacOS clients experiencing intermittent permission denied errors when accessing data

Issue

  • Apple MAC clients intermittently notice permission errors on some files accessed via CIFS/SMB
  • Clients see a prohibitory sign(circle with a line through it) over the file or folder
  • When user selects this folder it displays message “The folder “abc example” can’t be opened because you don’t have permissions to see its contents.”
  • Performance issues are also noticed by Apple MAC clients when transferring large files.
  • Clients have to unmount and remount the shared network drive numerous times for permission errors to disappear
