MAC IDs flapping due incorrect IFGRP mode
Applies to
- ONTAP 9
- Interface Group (IFGRP)
Issue
- When connectivity between the data switches and the Storage server was enabled, MAC IDs start flopping with messages like:
33533863: 37327259: Sep 29 00:00:00 EDT: %C4K_EBM-4-HOSTFLAPPING: Host xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx in vlan xx is moving from port Gi8/8 to port Po1
33533864: 37327260: Sep 29 00:00:00 EDT: %C4K_EBM-4-HOSTFLAPPING: Host xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx in vlan xx is moving from port Po1 to port Gi8/7

- The NetApp ports connected to the switches are part of an IFGRP
- IFGRP is configured as multimode
- On the switch side, port aggregation is not configured
