Answer

Changing the LIF's netmask  can potentially cause disruption to clients, depending on how the network and clients are configured

Additional Information

  • If there are any clients or devices within the current subnet range /26 that have IP addresses outside the new subnet range /25, they may experience connectivity issues until their IP addresses are updated to fall within the new subnet range.
  • Clients that have IP addresses within the new subnet range should not be affected.
  • Below points to be considered:
    • How users are accessing the shares, is it via FQDN or IP ?
    • If users are accessing via FQDN, then that FQDN is pointing to how many IPs?
    •  If it points to multiple IPs, then remove the older which will be modified from the DNS and add the new IP to the DNS
NOTE:
  • Before making any changes, it's highly recommended to plan a maintenance window and communicate with affected clients to minimize disruption.
