Issue

  • A Linux server connected to a NetApp storage system encountered Input/output error when attempting to extract a large compressed file mounted on the storage’s nas volume
  • The file size is around 32GB
Command:
tar zxvf compressed_file_name.tar.gz
Error:
tar: compressed_file_name/path/file_name: Cannot close: Input/output error
tar: Exiting with failure status due to previous errors
  • The storage volume has enough free space and unused inodes
