IPSEC NFS Clients hang after ONTAP upgrade

  • ONTAP 9
  • NFSv4.2 clients using IPSEC encryption
  • Environments with automated non-disruptive upgrades (ANDU)
  • Linux NFS clients (Libreswan IPSEC, RHEL)

Issue

  • After performing an ONTAP upgrade, NFS clients utilizing IPSEC encryption were unable to access NFS exports.
  • All affected clients experienced a hung state on NFS mounts. Standard (non-IPSEC) NFS clients were unaffected.
