How to understand netgroup negative cache

  • There are two kinds of netgroup cache in ONTAP: positive cache and negative cache
    • Those present in netgroup database and the look-up succeeds entries are stored in the netgroup positive cache
    • Those not present in netgroup database and the look-up fails entries are stored in the netgroup negative cache
