Answer

  • By default ONTAP behaves like a Windows server when its sets the atime upon file access
  • However, atime is not updated for file access when the following volume option is set.

::*> vol modify -vserver vserver name -volume volume name -atime-update false

** by default, this option is set to true.

  • This option does not prevent clients from manually setting the atime
