Error "Device attached to the system is not functioning" seen in the backup application log on IBM Tivoli Storage Manager

Not able to perform operation on the UNIX FIFO files - named pipe files in the CIFS share
Error is seen in the application log of IBM Tivoli Storage Manager :
Received Win32 RC 31 (0x0000001f) from GetBackupStreamSize(): uc_CreateFile. Error description: A device attached to the system is not functioning.
