Determining the Size of CIFS Shares and Qtrees in NetApp ONTAP 9
Applies to
- ONTAP 9
- CIFS/SMB
- Qtrees (With/Without Quota)
Overview
- A CIFS share is simply a network export path to a volume or qtree. ONTAP does not store "share size" directly
- A Qtree is a logical subdivision within a volume. ONTAP can track usage for Qtrees if quotas are enabled
- Without quotas, ONTAP cannot directly report Qtree usage; client-side scans or File System Analytics must be used
