DNS timeouts cause secd.ldap.noServers messages

Issue

  • When looking at NTFS File Permissions from Windows side, you only see SID's. When trying to edit those permissions you get:

error: The program cannot open the required dialog box because it cannot determine whether the computer named "host's FQDN"is joined to a domain. Close this message. and try again.DNS lookups fail:

Sun May 15 20:15:39 HKT [nodeA2: secd: secd.dns.server.timed.out:error]: DNS server 10.0.0.10 did not respond to vserver = NAS11 within timeout interval.

  • Verified DNS Pointer (PTR) records exist for each of the DC's and that they are pointing to the correct host name.
