DNS timeout alerts due to ARP delays
Applies to
- ONTAP 9
- Networking
- DNS
Issue
- ONTAP clusters may report recurring DNS server timeout events, even when DNS servers are reachable.
- The following EMS log is observed:
[NodeA:mgwd:dns.server.timed.out:error]: DNS server 10.2xx.1x.94 did not respond to vserver=svm1 within timeout interval. - Packet trace analysis shows a 3-second delay between the ARP request and response when the ONTAP cluster attempts to reach the DNS server.
