Issue

  • DNS is not responding in a timely fashion during Domain Controller (DC) Discovery
  • secd.dns.server.timed.out events logged in EMS log.

Description: This message occurs when the DNS server fails to respond to a query and timeout occurs.

Event: secd.dns.server.timed.out: DNS server 10.10.10.10 did not respond to vserver = SVM1 within timeout interval.

Action: Make sure that the DNS server is up and running and that there are no networking issues preventing the Vserver from communicating with the DNS server.

  • secd.ldap.noServers events logged around the same time in the EMS.

[NetApp: secd: secd.kerberos.preauth:error]: A Kerberos pre-authentication failure occurred for SVM "svm" due to invalid credentials for NetApp$@xxx.xxx.NET.
[NetApp: secd: secd.conn.auth.failure:noticeVserver (svm) could not authenticate over the network to]:  server (abc). Error: Local error (Service: LDAP (Active Directory), Operation: SiteDiscovery).
[NetApp: secd: secd.ldap.noServers:EMERGENCY]: None of the LDAP servers configured for Vserver (svm) are currently accessible via the network for LDAP service type (Service: LDAP (Active Directory), Operation: SiteDiscovery).
[NetApp: secd: secd.dns.server.timed.out:error]: DNS server 10.45.xy.xx did not respond to vserver = svm within timeout interval.
