Applies to

  • ONTAP 9
  • Absolute Path Symlink
  • CIFS
  • Symbolic Links
  • Windows

Issue

  • Cannot see files in a symlink folder through Windows Explorer
  • Files in a known symlink folder show as folders instead
  • When opening the "folder", an error occurs:

\\cluster\cifs_share\path\ is unavailable. If the location is on this PC, make sure the device or drive is connected or the disc is inserted, and then try again. If the location on a network, make sure you've connected to the network or internet, and then try again. If the location still can't be found, it might have been removed or deleted.
