Answer

  • Yes, UNIX Extensions allows POSIX/UNIX style security to be displayed through the CIFS protocol
  • -is-unix-extensions-enabled parameter of cifs options modify when set to true, it enables the UNIX Extensions feature in the CIFS server

Note: Can only be used with SMB1 - Which is deprecated - is NOT supported in SMB3.11.
