CIFS access failing due to AD Domain discovery issue

Issue

  • Unable to mount CIFS shares via IP
  • Windows client error:

We can't sign you in with this credential because your domain isn't available. Make sure your device is connected to your organization's network and try again. If you previously signed in on this device with another credential, you can sign in with that credential.

  • In ONTAP, domain discovery is failing with RPC: Timed out.
  • All Domain Controllers (DC) showing undetermined or unavailable.
  • Domain discovery may fail with DNS unavailable/timeout resulting in authentication failure and loss of access to shares.
  • Confirm correct DNS entries:

 $ nslookup
  • Confirm correct SPNs:

$ setspn -l
