Issue

  • Unable to access CIFS Shares and NFS exports after a switch upgrade.

[node-01: vifmgr: vifmgr.lifBeingRemoved:notice]: LIF svm2_NAS (on virtual server 5), IP address 10.0.0.1, is being removed from node node-01, port e0g.
[node-01: vifmgr: vifmgr.lifBeingRemoved:notice]: LIF svm-01 on virtual server 3), IP address 10.0.0.1, is being removed from node node-01, port e0g.


[node-02: vifmgr: vifmgr.lifBeingRemoved:notice]: LIF svm2_NAS (on virtual server 5), IP address 10.0.0.1, is being removed from node node-01, port e0g.
[node-02: vifmgr: vifmgr.lifBeingRemoved:notice]: LIF svm-01 on virtual server 3), IP address 10.0.0.1, is being removed from node node-01, port e0g.

  • Clients can access the LIF after a reboot, but go inaccessible again after the ARP cache timer expires.
  • Packet capture shows the ONTAP LIF is no getting ARP replies for client ip hosts, they are getting dropped after the ARP  cache timer expires
