Issue

  • Encountered an EMS CIFS authentication message where the error "KRB5KDC_ERR_PREAUTH_FAILED" was logged frequently.
  • Despite the error, users and admins were able to log in and access data without issues.

secd.cifsAuth.problem:error: vserver (vserver_name) General CIFS authentication problem. Error: Ontap admin cifs authentication basic procedure failed   [  0 ms] Successfully connected to ip 10.10.10.20, port 88 using TCP   [     2] Successfully connected to ip 10.10.10.20, port 88 using TCP **[     3] FAILURE: Could not authenticate as 'user@CHILD.DOMAIN.LOCAL': Invalid Credentials (KRB5KDC_ERR_PREAUTH_FAILED).   [     3] Kerberos authentication failed. Skipping NTLM   [     3] Ontap-admin-login-cifs failed
