Takeover failed due to WAFL/RAID labels during manual ONTAP upgrade

Issue

  • During an ONTAP upgrade, the following error appears after the update of the first node:

Takeover is not possible: The version of software running on each node of the SFO pair is incompatible, NVRAM log not synchronized

  • Attempting a takeover with the allow-version-mismatch option fails with the following error:

Error: command failed: Failed to initiate takeover. Reason: partner versions of WAFL and/or RAID are newer than this node.
