Oracle Performance issues can be complex:

  • They involve multiple vendors
  • Oracle database rely on multiple interdependent processes
    • Different processes may use different types (sequential vs random) of IO
  • IO types involved in overall latency might be only a small percentage of the total IO (for example, redo logs)
