Why is throughput lower to Object Store

Answer

  • When user workload is high on node, ONTAP will throttle background processes.
  • Tiering to object store is background process.
  • PUT throughput to the Object Store will drop as throttling is happening on the node.

Additional Information

In ONTAP 9.10+ you can use below command to see throttling (below example does not show throttling, throttle counter=0)

Cluster::> set advanced
Cluster::*> diag dblade wafl composite tlog-put show -node node1 -instance
