Answer

  • Reverting changes must be done sequentially, addressing one version at a time, as it does not allow skipping versions (The revert path would be 9.12 > 9.11 > 9.10 > 9.9 > 9.8).
  • Unlike upgrades, reverting requires 100% downtime, and this downtime would be needed during each of the steps between the current release and the target release.
  • Reverting ONTAP is not recommended and we strongly suggest that you do contact technical support if you are planning on reverting to confirm if there are some other less disruptive options that might suit you better.
