Unable to extend VMware datastore from the GUI

Issue

  • After increasing the size of the LUN, attempting to expand the VMware datastore the full amount from the GUI fails stating "Failed to update partition table".

  • If attempting to expand the size under the fully allotted amount from storage, it will go through successfully.

  • It is also seen that the increase in space on the LUN is not reflected in vCenter but it shows correctly on the individual ESXi hosts, even after a rescan.
