Applies to

  • ONTAP 9
  • AFF/ASA/FAS
  • HA pairs with T6 interconnect adapters

Issue

  • Storage failover status shows “Takeover not possible: NVRAM log not synchronized” on one or both nodes:
    • Example:
    • Cluster::*> storage failover show
                                    Takeover
      Node           Partner        Possible State Description
      -------------- -------------- -------- -------------------------------------
Node-n1   Node-n2   false    Connected to Node-n2, Takeover is not possible: NVRAM log not synchronized
Node-n2   Node-n1   -        Up. Node accessible via HA-IC, but cluster access failed

Fri Jul 10 21:23:20 +0000 [Node-n2: cf_main: cf.fsm.takeoverByPartnerDisabled:error]: Failover monitor: takeover of Node-n2 by Node-n1 disabled (unsynchronized log).

  • HA ports are up and healthy:
    • Link Status         Node-n1  Node-n2
      Link 0 Status       up            up
      Link 1 Status       up            up
      IC RDMA Connection  up            up
Is Link 0 Active  true          true
Is Link 1 Active  true          true
  • In SP console logs we see that the T6 adapter is not responding:
    • destroy_cq - Device t6nex1 not responding after 300.019928 seconds - tid 0 qpid 0
      destroy_cq - Device t6nex1 not responding after 1260.040696 seconds - tid 0 qpid 0
