Applies to

  • ONTAP 9
  • NetApp Volume Encryption (NVE)

Answer

  • You cannot specify a key for the volume.  When creating an encrypted volume or enabling encryption on a volume ONTAP will assign a unique key to the volume.
  • You can change the encryption key with a rekey, but you do not specify a key.
