Description

In all versions of clustered Data ONTAP cluster and SVM names must be unique to be peered together. If there are duplicate cluster or SVM names being used in older versions of Data ONTAP, it required one of the clusters/SVMs to be renamed. However, starting in ONTAP 9, you do not need to rename either cluster or SVM.

The -local-name option for the ::> cluster peer create and ::> vserver peer create commands were introduced in ONTAP 9 to avoid duplicate names.
