Issue

  • ONTAP EMS messages for one or multiple drives, increasing in time. Example:

... [node_name: disk_timer: disk.stalledTooLong:error]: I/O for disk Ov.1x.xxxx has been suspended 1 time for 116 seconds.
... [node_name: disk_timer: disk.stalledTooLong:error]: I/O for disk Ov.1x.xxxx has been suspended 1 time for 126 seconds.

... [node_name: disk_timer: disk.stalledTooLong:error]: I/O for disk Ov.1x.xxxx has been suspended 1 time for 136 seconds.

  • These ONTAP events are being reported only by one node in the HA pair.
  • The events are first noticed after an ONTAP upgrade.
    • Specially if there is a shelf and/or drive firmware update.
