Cannot open PDF because it is incompatible

Issue

  • PDF reader software cannot open PDF file
    • Adobe Acrobat Reader says Adobe Acrobat Reader could not open 'filename' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't decoded)
    • Google Chrome says Failed to load PDF document
  • Problem happens regardless of whether PDF file is saved to an ONTAP SMB share, or onto the local drive of the SMB client host
