Issue

  • After an Azure-initiated VM maintenance event (Freeze, Reboot, or Redeploy), the vmevd service on a CVO node crashes and enters a persistent restart loop.
  • ONTAP EMS and system logs show repeated vmevd crashes with the message: vmevd: Received SIGSEGV.
  • The node continues to crash-loop across reboots and cannot process Azure maintenance event notifications until the corrupted state is manually cleared.
