Issue

  • Modifying CIFS share ACLs via MMC fails after 10-30 seconds. Error: 
    Unable to save changes. Remote procedure call failed

  • This operation fails in any Win OS version
  • Same clients succeed on other similarly configured ONTAP clusters
  • On the affected cluster\vserver, cshmd, shmd services are not running in:
    system services manager status show
