CONTAP-536037: ONTAP mgwd terminated and Web Services unavailable due to memory exhaustion

Issue

  • Web GUI (HTTPS) access to the cluster is unavailable
  • Web service fails to start with error:

system services web node modify -node <Node01>
Error: Internal error. An error occurred while accessing the web services configuration.

  • SSH access is unaffected.
  • EMS log entries show repeated memory allocation failures for mgwd:

[mgwd:kern.vm.mmap.return:notice]: mmap(2) by mgwd(pid 11790) for size 6656000 failed: VMEM limit exceeded, limit 4294967296, error 12.
  • Core dump error observed:

'mgwd: Received SIGSEGV (Signal 11) at RIP 0x81f93688a accessing address 0 (pid 11790, uid 0, timestamp ...)'
