CONTAP-273170: SnapMirror active sync Out-of-Sync or high latency due to Frequent UNMAP Requests from Host OS

Issue

SnapMirror active sync and SnapMirror Synchronous relationships either go Out of Sync (without the fix for CONTAP-273170) or WRITEs experience high latency (>500ms)  for a few seconds due to high number of UNMAP requests from the Host OS. UNMAP requests are usually triggered by:

  • VMDK/VHD/VHDX deletion
  • Storage or VM Migration from hypervisor
  • VM snapshot deletion
  • File deletion from Host OS on SM-as protected disk/LUN
