Issue

NetApp has identified a software issue on FAS and Cloud Volumes ONTAP products involving an interaction between Flash Cache and FabricPool (FP) that may result in a condition where incorrect data can be returned to clients after a failover.
Symptoms:

  • Failed read(s) back to the client
    • The node may log an EMS entry indicating the failure (see example below)
  • Client Application fails or detects data inconsistency

Sample EMS log entry:
wafl.incons.compressed.buf: WAFL inconsistent: bad compressed block at VBN XXXXXXXXXXX (vvbn:XXXXXXXXXX fbn:XXXX level:X compression group first vbn:XXXXXXX compression group size X) in inode (fileid:XXXXXXX snapid:X) in volume volname@vserver:XXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXX.
